The Department of Communication and Community Development Sciences (SKPM), Faculty of Human Ecology, IPB University proudly presents The 7th Summer Course SKPM 2026, held from July 23rd to August 7th 2026 in Bogor, Indonesia. This year’s theme, “Connecting Communities for Sustainable Rural Futures in the Digital Era,” invites participants to explore how communities, technology, and collaboration can contribute to more sustainable and inclusive rural development. The program offers an engaging interdisciplinary learning experience that highlights communication for development, rural sociology, social innovation, participatory approaches, and community development.
Participants will join interactive lectures, workshops, cultural exchange activities, collaborative discussions, and immersive field experiences that connect academic perspectives with real-life rural dynamics. Through direct interaction with local communities and participatory field activities, participants will gain deeper insight into the challenges and opportunities of rural transformation in the digital era. The program also creates opportunities to build international friendships and networks with participants from diverse backgrounds, encouraging intercultural understanding, teamwork, and collaborative problem-solving. More than just an academic program, The 7th Summer Course SKPM 2026 is a space for learning, sharing experiences, and growing together as future scholars, practitioners, and changemakers committed to sustainable rural futures.
I. Program Highlights
- International Academic Experience
Participants will take part in interactive lectures, workshops, and discussions with academics, practitioners, and international speakers, creating opportunities to share ideas and learn together about communication for development, rural sociology, social innovation, and sustainable development. - Integrated Field-Based Learning
Participants will explore real-life rural development through an integrated field-based study in Salam Community Hub (Kampung Salam), where they can interact directly with local communities, join field activities, and learn firsthand about the realities and practices of rural development. - Introduction to Participatory Social Mapping Method
The program also introduces participants to participatory approaches and community mapping methods, including Data Desa Presisi as an innovative way to support village data collection and more inclusive rural development planning. - Mini Project Competition
Participants will collaborate in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams to share ideas, develop community-based solutions, and present innovative approaches to rural and environmental challenges. - Cultural Exchange and Networking
Participants will connect with local communities, academics, and fellow participants through cultural exchange activities, interactive discussions, and shared field-based experiences in Salam Community Hub (Kampung Salam).
II. Application Requirements
- Undergraduate and postgraduate students from both domestic and international
- Backgrounds from all majors (preferably from relevant studies, such as: Communication, Sociology, Community Development, Agriculture, Environment).
- Confident in interactively communicating in English.
- Able and available to participate in all program activities.
- Demonstrate teamwork, intercultural adaptability, and collaborative spirit.
III. Application Materials
Applicants are required to submit:
- Curriculum vitae (CV)
- Motivation letter in 1000 words (format: ipb.link/motlet-sc2026)
- Scanned copy of student ID
- Scanned copy of your proof of identity (ID card or passport)
IV. Application Procedure and Deadline!
Please provide all the above application materials and submit them before July 3rd, 2026 (23.59 GMT+7) on ipb.link/7th-skpmsummercourse or scan the QR code below:
Our committee will review the application on July 4th – 6th. Please note that this course has limited seats, so early submission is highly encouraged.
Selected applicants will then be informed by July 8th to complete their registration on July 9th – 12th.
