Celebrating Connections Beyond Borders: Cultural Exchange and Closing of the 7th SKPM International Summer Course 2026

Bogor, 7 August 2026 – A Celebration of Culture, Friendship, Reflection, and New Connections.

The 7th SKPM International Summer Course 2026 concluded its journey with a Cultural Exchange Night on 6 August 2026 and a Closing Ceremony on 7 August 2026. After days of academic learning, field engagement, and collaborative projects, the final activities provided participants with an opportunity to celebrate their cultural diversity, reflect on their experiences, and strengthen friendships formed throughout the program.

The Cultural Exchange Night brought together participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, China, Thailand, and the Philippines. The evening featured an Indonesian cultural showcase, international cultural presentations, traditional snacks, cultural exchange, and a friendship circle where participants shared their experiences throughout the Summer Course.

Through the cultural presentations, participants introduced elements of their respective countries while learning about the traditions and experiences of their fellow participants. The session became a space for participants to appreciate cultural diversity beyond the academic environment.

The evening continued with appreciation awards, group singing, photo sessions, and memory sharing. These activities created a warm and informal atmosphere that strengthened the sense of friendship and community among participants.

On 7 August 2026, the program officially concluded with the Closing Ceremony at IPB University. One of the highlights was the Closing Keynote with the entitled β€œLast Words of Wisdom,” delivered by Prof. Li Xiaoyun, Ph.D. from China Agricultural University.

The keynote was followed by a Participant Reflection and Testimonial Session, where participants shared their impressions and experiences throughout the program. A highlights video then brought together memorable moments from the Summer Course, from classroom sessions and field visits to cultural activities and collaborative projects.

The ceremony continued with the Certificate Awarding Ceremony, recognizing participants for their completion of the Summer Course program. The official closing remarks marked the conclusion of the academic program and the beginning of new connections that participants can continue beyond the Summer Course.

The 7th SKPM International Summer Course 2026 brought together students and academics from different countries around a shared interest in sustainable rural futures and community development. More than a series of academic activities, the program created opportunities for participants to learn from one another, engage with communities, exchange cultures, and build international friendships.

As the program came to an end, the connections built throughout the Summer Course remained one of its most meaningful outcomesβ€”connecting communities, ideas, cultures, and people across borders.
